Creator of Best Video Projectors, Brian Rossiter has been a fan of video projectors dating to 2005, when he bought his first model, a 720p-capable InFocus Screenplay 5000. He has bought a range of budget-friendly, mid-tier and premium long-throw projectors, short-throw projectors and ultra-short-throw projectors since the late 2010s. In the mid-2020s, in Brian's view, innovation with projectors began to skyrocket.

Inspired and propelled by the rapid technological advancements with video projectors, Brian created Best Video Projectors as a way to help consumers cut to the chase to find the best projectors for their budgets and use cases in an increasingly growing and crowded market, with new specifications surfacing every year. Whereas brands such as Epson, JVC and Sony once ruled the projector market, newer brands such as Aurzen, AWOL, Dangbei, Hisense, JMGO and XGIMI are making big waves in the consumer market, especially with lifestyle projectors, or projectors built to be used in different rooms of a home. All these brands, and yet dozens—even hundreds—more sell video projectors in online stores such as Amazon.

Brian has been impressed and disappointed with some projectors he's purchased, and he's come to identify a core set of features that make for a solid purchase. Some projectors costing in the low to mid-$2,000 range often deliver jaw-dropping pictures, but even some projectors costing just a fraction of this price can bring their own charms, even if their color output doesn't sizzle with 110 percent of the BT.2020 color gamut.
